ESGR is a Department of Defense agency with a mission to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees by advocating relevant intitiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of the law and resolving conflicts through mediation. 

VISION

Develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees.

STRATEGIC GOALS

  • Gain and maintain support from employers of Guard and Reserve members.
  • Advocate for Guard and Reserve employers within the Department of Defense.
  • Educate customers and stakeholders.
  • Transform ESGR organizational structure to be relevant and effective.

ESGR TODAY

  • National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (NCESGR)
  • Now over 4,700 volunteer committee members
  • Founded in 1972
  • 54 committees (every state, District of Columbia, and territories)

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

  1. Today, 1.3 million Americans serve in the Guard and Reserve representing nearly on half of our total military force.
  2. The National Guard and Reserve Forces make-up one-half of the Total Force (48%).
  3. The National Guard and Reserves are utilized more often to support on-going operations and exercises.
